Biography

Dr. Yao Guo received his B.S. degree in automation and M.S. degree in communication and information system from Sun Yat-sen University (Guangzhou, China) in 2011 and 2014, respectively. He earned his Ph.D. degree in robotic vision from the City University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong SAR, China) in 2018. His postdoctoral training was at the Hamlyn Centre for Robotic Surgery, Imperial College London, from 2018 to 2020. Since Oct. 2020, he has been the tenure-track Assistant Professor with the Institute of Medical Robotics, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China.

 

His main research interests include robotic vision, gait analysis, rehabilitation and assistive robotics, human-machine interaction, and machine learning algorithms in healthcare applications. He has published in peer-reviewed journals such as IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, IEEE Transactions on Neural Network and Learning Systems, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, Pattern Recognition, IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing P, J-BHI, PR, TMC, and presented on top-level conferences such as ICRA, IROS. He received the Best Conference Paper Award at the IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation (ICMA) 2016.
