The Successful Conclusion of the Third KAIST-SJTU Biomedical Engineering Bilateral Symposium

On the afternoon of October 22, 2021, the Biological and Brain Engineering Department of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as KAIST)-Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Biomedical Engineering bilateral seminar ended successfully. Affected by the epidemic, the event was held online . Jian Ye, deputy dean of the School of Biomedical Engineering, Ki-Hun Jeong, head of the Department of Biology and Brain Engineering at KAIST, and nearly a hundred teachers and students in the fields of neuroscience and engineering, medical instruments and imaging, and nanobiomedicine from both Chinese and Korean universities participated online. Shanbao Tong, professor of the School of Biomedical Engineering, chaired the seminar.

The Chinese and foreign parties respectively introduced the basic situation of their respective institutions and subject areas and extended a warm welcome to the Chinese and foreign teachers and students participating in the activity. The event invited 6 well-known professors from China and South Korea to share wonderful academic reports. Combined with the college’s "three horizontal and three vertical" scientific development layout, the event conducted seminars in neuroengineering, medical instruments, biomaterials and other disciplines, focusing on international academics. Frontier issues, discuss important technology research and development, promote academic exchanges and cooperation, create a free and diversified academic atmosphere, build a bridge for academic interaction and exchanges for the first-line scientific researchers of both sides in the first time, and contribute to the start of joint scientific research cooperation projects between the two parties in the future prepare.

After the seminar, representatives of China and South Korea held discussions on comprehensive cooperation in scientific research cooperation, talent training and teacher reserve. Chen Ke, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Wang Qian, Director of the International Affairs Office of the Graduate School, Haein Chung, Director of International Cooperation and Exchange of KAIST, Ye Jian, Deputy Dean of the School of Biomedical Engineering and representatives of professors from both sides participated in the discussion. It is believed that the cooperation between the two parties is another strong alliance in Asia and even the international academic arena.
