International Academic Forums丨Gait Analysis Seminar

December 23, 2020

On the afternoon of December 15, the gait analysis seminar was held simultaneously in the conference room of the Institute of Medical Robotics and the Zoom line. This seminar was co-hosted by Professor Wang Liang from the State Key Laboratory of Pattern Recognition, Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Assistant Professor Guo Yao from the Institute of Medical Robotics, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, with more than 120 online and offline participants. This seminar invited many experts and scholars to introduce the development history, latest progress and application of gait analysis in biometric recognition and clinical evaluation. In clinical practice, gait analysis quantitatively evaluates human walking function through biomechanical indicators such as kinematics and dynamics, reveals the pathological characteristics and influencing factors of various gait abnormalities, and provides scientific decision-making basis for disease diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation evaluation. At the same time, as an emerging biometric recognition technology, gait integrates a variety of computer and signal processing technologies such as computer vision, pattern recognition, and image processing. It has many technical features such as long distance recognition, non-perception, and full angle. It can be widely used in video surveillance and security and other fields.

Through this forum, teachers and students have a deeper understanding of the application of gait analysis in multiple fields, and believe that the direction of gait analysis will be the key direction of future medical-industrial cross-related research and development. Prevention, diagnosis and evaluation provide guidance.
