The 2nd (2024) Med-X International Academic Conference Successfully Held

The 2nd Med-X International Academic Conference was successfully held in Shanghai, China from December 13th to 15th, 2024. The conference was jointly organized by the School of Biomedical Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the National Engineering Research Center of High-End Magnetic Resonance Diagnosis and Treatment Technology, the Med-X Journal, and the Med-X Research Institute. Themed around cutting-edge directions such as minimally invasive medical devices, brain-computer interfaces and clinical applications, biomaterials and tissue engineering, biomedical electronics, high-end magnetic resonance diagnosis and treatment technology, biophotonics, medical robotics, molecular and cellular engineering. More than 100 experts, scholars, and university leaders in the field of biomedical engineering from around the world were invited to give keynote speeches and sub-forum reports, with over 300 participants attending offline.

The opening ceremony of the conference was chaired by Professor Liao Hongen, Dean of the School of Biomedical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He extended the warmest welcome to the guests coming from afar. Professor Kong Lingti, Party Secretary of the School of Biomedical Engineering, offered sincere congratulations on the opening of the conference, expressing the hope that through this academic exchange platform, the latest academic achievements in the field of biomedical engineering could be shared, and the development direction of the discipline and the prospects of industrial transformation could be explored. Professor Li Song, the Editor-in-Chief of the Med-X Journal and the former Chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at UCLA, introduced the founding and development process of the Med-X Journal. Cai Yunze, Deputy Director of the Journal Center of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary integration for medical innovation from a disciplinary integration perspective and expressed anticipation. Professor J. Brian Fowlkes, the Director of the Department of Basic Radiology at the University of Michigan, elaborated on the trends in the field and the necessity of cooperation from an international perspective. Professor Gao Weiqiang, the Dean of the Med-X Research Institute, shared the strategic layout and innovative practices of the Med-X Research Institute in integrating interdisciplinary resources and promoting the in-depth integration of medicine and engineering technology. Professor Xu Xuemin, the Vice Chair of the University Council of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Director of the National Engineering Research Center of High-End Magnetic Resonance Diagnosis and Treatment Technology, congratulated the successful convening of the Med-X International Annual Conference on behalf of the university. He expected that through multidisciplinary and multichannel exchanges and cooperation, more opportunities could be found and greater breakthroughs could be achieved, thus promoting the development of the biomedical engineering discipline.
