Successful Conclusion of the 8th SJTU-KTH Joint International Summer School in 2021

On August 27, 2021, the 8th Shanghai Jiao Tong University-KTH Royal Institute of Technology Joint International Summer School (hereinafter referred to as the "Summer School") successfully ended. Affected by the epidemic, the event was held online. This summer school was specially funded by the International Summer School of the Graduate School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. It was sponsored by the School of Biomedical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. A total of 40 students from China, Sweden, and Germany participated.

Professors from China and Switzerland share wonderful academic reports
Ye Jian, Deputy Dean of Foreign Affairs of the School of Biomedical Engineering, presided over the opening ceremony and introduced the basic situation of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the School of Biomedical Engineering, and expressed a warm welcome to the Chinese and foreign teachers and students participating in the event. The event invited 9 professors from China and Switzerland to share wonderful academic reports, covering medical imaging, biological materials, disease biology and other disciplines.
Guidance for Chinese and foreign students to participate in the IEC competition
SJTU-KTH Joint International Summer School has always focused on the academic exchanges and cooperation between the two parties in the field of biomedical engineering and the collision and communication between multiple cultures. This summer school has rich activities and not only invited well-known professors and scholars from both sides in the field of biomedical engineering to share wonderful academic lectures, the first Chinese and foreign student innovation and entrepreneurship competition (2021 SJTU BME Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, IEC) was also held to encourage and guide Chinese and foreign students to try to participate in innovation and entrepreneurship. The competition invited professors with fruitful achievements in the field of industrialization to participate in the guidance. Through course training, team discussions, and results presentations, four teams of Chinese and foreign students participated in the project roadshow, "An intelligent splint for prevention and treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome "The team won the first prize for their excellent performance. The activity allowed students to personally experience the joy and difficulty of starting a business, which was well received by teachers and students.

The successful conclusion of the 8th SJTU-KTH Joint International Summer School in 2021 is an important implementation of our school's international scientific research cooperation and talent training. Affected by the epidemic, the event was changed to be held online. However, the number of participating students has increased unabated. The teachers and students of the two schools have successfully carried out exchanges in various aspects such as scientific research, teaching, innovation and entrepreneurship through the online platform, which has further promoted the students of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and KTH.
