Capturing the Essence of Light, Seeing the Minute | The 8th Session of the School of Biomedical Engineering's "Med-Engineering Intelligence Launch" Lecture Series Successfully Held

On the afternoon of November 27, the 8th session of the School of Biomedical Engineering's "Med-Engineering Intelligence Launch" Lecture Series was successfully held in the lecture hall of the Wenxuan Medical Building.

Professor Gu Bobo, Class Advisor of the 2401 cohort and tenured associate professor, warmly welcomed the students. Referring to the speaker affectionately as "the child from someone else's family," he briefly introduced Professor Ji Minbiao's educational background and academic achievements, highly commending his contributions to the biomedical applications of Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) technology. He expressed his hope that through this lecture, students would not only gain an in-depth understanding of the principles and application prospects of SRS technology but also draw inspiration from Professor Ji's personal journey and academic career.
This session specially invited Professor Ji Minbiao from the Department of Physics at Fudan University to deliver a presentation titled "Capturing the Essence of Light, Seeing the Minute — Cross-Disciplinary Scientific Exploration of Stimulated Raman Scattering Imaging Technology."
I. Capturing the Minute — The Origins of Raman Scattering
Breaking the constraints of scale, letting faint light shine; releasing the bonds of signals, allowing information to flow. Professor Ji began with his own research directions, guiding students through an in-depth exploration of the origins and development of "Raman scattering" — a core foundation in the field of medical imaging. He not only elaborated on the scientific principles of Raman scattering in detail but also provided a thorough introduction to "SRS technology." He emphasized that advances in fundamental disciplinary theories play an indispensable role in promoting the development of interdisciplinary fields and driving technological innovation.
II. Reconstructing in Faint Light — Stimulated Raman Scattering Imaging Technology
Capturing light, drifting through the depths of information; penetrating light, peering through the unevenness of scattering — the mysteries of life unfold one by one. Professor Ji approached the topic from practical application perspectives such as rapid intraoperative detection, briefly introducing the development history and application prospects of SRS technology. He noted that SRS technology is not only a "revolutionary tool" for interdisciplinary research but also a "bridge" connecting different scientific fields. By sharing some of his laboratory's cutting-edge research, he vividly presented the applications of SRS technology in interdisciplinary research spanning physics, chemistry, biomedicine, and environmental science
