On October 26, 2019, the 40th Anniversary of Biomedical Engineering Discipline came to a successful conclusion in Wen Zhi Hall, Xuhui Campus, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. During  the ceremony, more than 600 alumni, teachers and students attended and reunited in the anniversary. The 40-year history of Biomedical engineering can be included as continuous exploration and innovation. It has benefited from the innovative spirit passed down from generation to generation and the development concept of "Medicine and Engineering Integration. the Biomedical Engineering Discipline of Jiao Tong University was born to be stronger, reformed to be thriving, and wised to be prosperous. The college will stand at a new starting point in history and set out again!

Since BME establishment, the School has aimed at excellence in both teaching and research for developing advanced medical technologies with contribution to human health and unmet clinical needs. It has placed a particular emphasis on “interdisciplinary, international collaboration, and concrete clinical applications". In the coming future, BME will always keep its original intention in mind, and continue a new development chapter!
