First Session of the Biomedical Engineering Young Alumni Exchange Meeting Successfully Held
July 30, 2023
On July 22, the School of Biomedical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) hosted its first Young Alumni Exchange Meeting of 2023 at the Sheng Xuanhuai Residence (Sheng's House, Alumni House) on the Xuhui Campus. The event centered on career development and planning in the high-end medical equipment industry, drawing active participation from over ten alumni, including representatives from United Imaging Healthcare and Philips (China) Investment Co., Ltd.
The alumni began the event by watching the latest promotional film of the college, expressing their nostalgia and appreciation for the college's growth and academic development. They also shared their gratitude for their alma mater's nurturing and their ongoing interest in its progress. Ms. Liu Meng, the alumni officer, then provided a detailed overview of the alumni relations work and patiently addressed the concerns raised by the attendees.
During the exchange, alumni individually discussed their career progress and experiences. Deep conversations emerged around the trends in the medical device industry and the application of artificial intelligence algorithms within the field. Veteran alumni offered career development advice from various temporal perspectives, particularly valuable for young alumni just beginning their professional journeys. A segment of free-flowing conversation followed, where attendees shared their laboratory experiences and fond memories of studying at SJTU.
The meeting concluded with a visit to the Med-X Research Institute and the Dong Haoyun Shipping Museum. This tour allowed the alumni to directly experience the recent developments and changes at the university and reminisce about their campus days. It also served as a reminder of the university's motto, "When drinking water, think of its source; love the motherland, and honor the university," reinforcing their connection to SJTU and its values.
This alumni exchange meeting not only provided a platform for professional networking but also strengthened the bond between the university and its graduates, fostering a sense of community and continuity among the School of Biomedical Engineering’s alumni.
