School of Biomedical Engineering Celebrates the 128th Anniversary of Shanghai Jiao Tong University!

On April 6, the "School of Biomedical Engineering Celebration of the 128th Anniversary of Shanghai Jiao Tong University" was successfully held in the lobby of the Wenxuan Medical Building on the Minhang Campus. Over a hundred BME alumni returned to their alma mater to enjoy the most beautiful spring scenery of SJTU and celebrate its 128th anniversary together.

Distinguished guests attending the event included Yazhu Chen from the School of Biomedical Engineering, SJTU; Yingjie Li, Deputy Director of the International Office and Dean of the International Education College of Shanghai University; Zhaoxuan Zhan, an alumni doctoral graduate from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (Taiwan); Xin Zhou, Chairman of Shanghai Langmai Medical Technology Co., Ltd.; Hui Zu, Chairman of Shanghai Aridian Biotechnology Co., Ltd., and Peirui Wang, Deputy General Manager; Guoming Chen, Vice President of MicroPort; Longjun Tang, General Manager of MicroPort NeuroTech; Jian Lyu, General Manager of Hong Kong Fengli Technology Co., Ltd.; Ji Zhang, Chairman of Shenzhen Prometheus Medical Co., Ltd.; Jing Pan, Chairman of Shanghai Titanium Robot Co., Ltd.; Yan Xi, Chairman of Jiangsu Yiyin Medical; Hangdao Li, Deputy Secretary-General of the Medical Device Alumni Association; as well as all alumni representatives from Class 80211, Hao Zhang and Weiyuan Xu. Some leadership team members and over a hundred alumni, faculty, and student representatives also attended the meeting. The conference was presided over by Jiangping Chen, Party Secretary of the School.

In his opening address, Dean Hongen Liao first extended a warm welcome to all guests, alumni, faculty, and students attending this grand event, and expressed his gratitude to BME alumni for their long-term support and care for their alma mater. He noted that the development and growth of the School are inseparable from the support of its alumni, and sincerely hoped that all alumni at home and abroad would leverage their respective strengths and resources, work together, and contribute ideas and efforts to the construction of the "Jiahe Building," as well as to the development of their alma mater and the School of Biomedical Engineering. Subsequently, Dean Liao delivered a school report to the attendees covering talent cultivation, faculty development, research translation, and infrastructure construction.

Party Secretary Jiangping Chen delivered the concluding remarks. He stated that BME alumni have always been deeply attached to their alma mater, caring about its development and establishing multiple scholarships and teaching awards. These efforts encourage BME students to devote themselves to research and drive innovation, and inspire faculty to fulfill their mission of nurturing talent through moral education. This demonstrates the sincere commitment of BME alumni to the educational development of their alma mater. He expressed his hope that the School of Biomedical Engineering would unite the strength of all alumni and move forward courageously to write a new chapter in this new stage of development.
