2022 IEEE EMBS International Summer School of Neural Engineering was successfully held

The fifth IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society International Summer School of Neural Engineering (IEEE EMBS ISSNE'22) ended successfully on July 29, 2022. Due to the the COVID-19 pandemic, this summer school was held online. This week-long Summer school is sponsored by the School of Biomedical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and is funded by the International Summer School of the Graduate School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. This conference is supported by IEEE EMBS Shanghai Chapter and Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering Medical NeuroEngineering Branch. Prof. Shanbao Tong, Chairman of ISSNE'22 and School of Biomedical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, officiated the opening ceremony and expressed a warm welcome to all the Chinese and foreign teachers and students who participated in the activity. Professor Metin Akay, President of IEEE EMBS, was invited to attend the event and deliver a speech of welcome.
The summer school attracted nearly 100 students, postdocs and young teachers from 19 countries and regions, including China, the United States, South Korea, Japan, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, etc. The summer school arranged a series of courses, cutting-edge academic reports and students' oral presentations. Bin He of Carnegie Mellon University, Nan Li of University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Nitish Thakor of Johns Hopkins University, Yao Li of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Bo Hong of Tsinghua University, Yu Sun of Zhejiang University, Professors such as Tong Shanbao from Shanghai Jiao Tong University gave wonderful academic reports and lectures on the hot and cutting-edge issues such as neural interface, molecular neuroimaging, language function decoding, neural efficacy, neural regulation, etc. During the Student Presentations on the last day, the students showed their research topics and achievements.

The IEEE EMBS ISSNE was launched and founded in 2013 by the School of Biomedical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and IEEE EMBS Shanghai Branch, providing an international platform for academic communication among students, postdocs and young teachers in the field of neuroengineering from all over the world.
