School of Biomedical Engineering Hosts the 3rd National Biomedical Raman Spectroscopy Conference

From March 29 to 30, 2024, the 3rd National Biomedical Raman Spectroscopy Conference took place in Jiading, Shanghai. The event was organized by the Chinese Physical Society's Light Scattering Committee and co-hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), Wuhan University, Shanghai Normal University, and Huazhong Agricultural University. The conference attracted over 300 experts, young researchers, and industry representatives, marking a significant gathering in the field of biomedical optics. SJTU's School of Biomedical Engineering provided substantial support for the event, with notable figures such as Deputy Director Shi Wenbo and Dean Liao Hongen in attendance.
Professor Ye Jian, the executive chair and host of the opening ceremony, expressed hopes for the conference to foster collaboration between scholars and manufacturers in Raman spectroscopy.
Yao Jinlin highlighted the growing interdisciplinary applications of Raman spectroscopy, encouraging deep exchanges and discussions among participants.
Dean Liao Hongen congratulated the conference and invited experts to engage in research collaboration, emphasizing the event's importance for SJTU's School of Biomedical Engineering.
Vice President Shi Wenbo, on behalf of SJTU, warmly congratulated and delivered a speech on the convening of the conference.
The conference featured 118 paper abstracts, 55 invited talks from renowned experts, and a variety of presentation formats, including 46 invited reports, 5 industry talks, 5 oral presentations, and 52 poster presentations. Eight major topics were covered, ranging from single-cell analysis to interdisciplinary forums. The conference also showcased the latest Raman instruments and technology, providing a platform for young researchers to display their work and engage in meaningful discussions.
Assistant Professor Lin Li chaired a forum on "Other Biomedical Applications of Raman Spectroscopy" and presented on "Deep Penetration Raman Technology" in the interdisciplinary forum, contributing to the conference's academic depth.
The conference concluded with a closing ceremony by Professor Chen Jian, who underscored the importance of Raman spectroscopy in biomedical research. The event's success was marked by the active participation of young researchers and students, indicating a bright future for the field.
