Shanghai Jiao Tong University BME and Med-X Institutes Conclude 2025 Elite Graduate Summer Camp

The Biomedical Engineering School (BME) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, including the Med-X Research Institute, successfully concluded its 2025 Elite Graduate Summer Camp from July 7th to 9th. The event attracted applications from outstanding students across various universities such as Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Nanjing University, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. After a rigorous selection process, over 180 exceptional students from across the country were admitted to the camp.
On the morning of July 7th, the opening ceremony was held in the Wenxuan Medical Building Lecture Hall on the Minhang Campus. Dean Liao Hong'en provided an overview of the school's history, discipline layout, faculty, and research achievements, encouraging students to engage in learning and exchange during the event to gain a deeper understanding of the BME School at SJTU.
Subsequently, leaders of various research directions introduced their respective research goals and faculty advisors. Professors Gao Weiqiang, Gu Hongchen, Tu Shengxian, Zhao Jun, and Yang Guangzhong presented their respective fields, including biomedical science, molecular nanomaterials, biomedical instruments, imaging and computing, and medical robotics. Additionally, representatives from the Sichuan and Inner Mongolia joint training bases introduced the graduate training models and living conditions, extending a warm invitation to the students.
The opening ceremony concluded with a detailed interpretation of the graduate recruitment policy by the Deputy Dean of the BME School, Ye Jian, who also addressed students' inquiries. These presentations provided a comprehensive understanding of the school's development, research directions, recruitment policies, and training models.
In the afternoon of July 7th, the school organized a tour of the laboratories on the Minhang Campus, where research strengths, atmosphere, and office environments were highlighted through PPTs and posters. Following the tour, a face-to-face exchange session between mentors and students was held in the Wenxuan Medical Building lobby, fostering deeper understanding and discussions on research work.
On July 8th, camp participants visited laboratories at the Xuhui Campus and engaged in another lively face-to-face exchange session with mentors in the afternoon.
The final day, July 9th, saw participants attending group interviews at the Engineering Building on the Xuhui Campus. Expert panel members conducted a comprehensive assessment of each candidate's professional quality and research potential. The interview process was intense yet orderly and concluded successfully.
With the successful conclusion of the 2025 Elite Graduate Summer Camp, the BME School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (including the Med-X Research Institute) looks forward to welcoming more outstanding students to join SJTU BME, to create a brilliant future together.
