The China International College Students' Innovation Competition (CICSIC) 2024 concluded with a flourish at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) from October 12th to 15th, showcasing 1410 projects from across the globe. Among these, the Biomedical Engineering College at SJTU emerged as a standout, securing an impressive three gold awards.
Project Overviews:
1. Raman Visionary - Sentinel Lymph Node Non-Invasive Tracing and Intraoperative Guidance System
- Team Leader: Wu Zongyu
- Team Members: Xie Haoqiang, Luo Yang, Ding Yijun, Shao Sirui, Gu Han
- Mentors: Lin Li, Ye Jian, Dong Zhanxun, Yu HanChuan, Dong Zhengying, Chen Zhou
- Category: Undergraduate Creative Group / New Medical Sciences
- Project Summary: This pioneering project addresses sentinel lymph node biopsy by integrating a gap-enhanced Raman tracer, large-spot spatial shifting detection, and spectral peak ratio localization algorithms. It is the world's first non-invasive Raman imaging localization technique for sentinel lymph nodes, capable of detecting nodes up to 10 cm deep and reducing surgical wound area by 87%.
2. Microchip Smart Inspection - AI-Based Slide Chip Rapid Drug Resistance Testing
- Team Leader: Sheng Cheyi
- Team Members: Zhang Haoyun, Shenyang, Zhang Beichen, Yu Ningning, Hu Qin, Huang Tianyun, Sun Ru Yue, Shi Yuxin, Chen Weiling, Zhang Yi, Cheng Xinyi
- Mentors: Shen Feng, Song Ping, Yu HanChuan
- Category: Undergraduate Creative Group / New Engineering Sciences
- Project Summary: This project offers an efficient, rapid, and accurate solution for drug sensitivity testing through innovative technology and business models. The core technology is based on a sliding microfluidic biochip combined with an AI prediction model, enabling high-throughput testing and significantly reducing examination time. Clinical trials with top-tier hospitals like Zhongshan Hospital and Ruijin Hospital have shown promising results. The project plans to provide a complete testing solution, including equipment, biochips, and AI analysis software, aiming to become an industry leader in convenient and accurate testing services for the healthcare sector.
3. PsychGPT - The World's First Professional Assistance Platform for Psychiatrists
- Team Leader: Mark Laurie
- Team Members: Heng Yu, Gabriel Magaña, Jiang Liu, Yaning Wang
- Mentor: Jin Cheng
- Category: Graduate Creative Group / International Project
- Project Summary: Focusing on the clinical needs of psychiatric and psychological diseases, PsychGPT is a multimodal large model developed for frontline doctors. It features five major functional modules: an "accelerator" for clinical diagnosis and treatment, a "think tank" for diagnostics, a "growth mentor" for junior doctors, a research "partner" for senior doctors, and a private "expert number" for early disease screening.
In July, the Biomedical Engineering College achieved a remarkable record of four gold and one silver awards, along with the championship title in the Shanghai regional finals of the 2024 International University Innovation Contest. In August, the college's recommended international project won the championship in the Shanghai regional special competition.
