The 19th Sino-German Bilateral Forum Successfully Held at Mannheim Medical Faculty, Heidelberg University

From April 8 to 10, 2025, the 19th Sino-German Bilateral Forum was successfully held at the Mannheim Medical Faculty of Heidelberg University in Germany. The forum was jointly organized by the School of Biomedical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Mannheim Medical Faculty of Heidelberg University. Professor Zheng Guoyan, Assistant Dean of the School of Biomedical Engineering, led the delegation to Germany and engaged in discussions on future scientific collaborations and joint talent cultivation programs.

Professor Sun Jianqi, Vice Dean of the School of Biomedical Engineering, Professor Zheng Guoyan, Assistant Dean, and Associate Professor Zhang Zhiyong delivered detailed presentations on advanced technologies and research achievements in the field of radiotherapy during the forum. They also held in-depth academic exchanges with professors and clinical researchers from relevant fields. As part of the lecture series for master’s students in biomedical engineering at Mannheim Medical Faculty, the forum attracted a large number of faculty members and students.

 

During the conference, representatives from the School of Biomedical Engineering visited laboratories at Mannheim Medical Faculty and exchanged views with their German counterparts on upgrading and expanding the joint master’s program. Both sides agreed to leverage the Sino-German Research Seed Fund to strengthen scientific collaboration. Additionally, they will pilot the APS Program (Academic Evaluation Centre) under the German Embassy’s Cultural Office in China, marking the first such initiative in Shanghai. This effort aims to further enhance comprehensive cooperation in graduate education between the two institutions.
