The 20th Sino-German Bilateral Forum Successfully Held at the School of Biomedical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University

From March 24 to 25, 2026, the 20th Sino-German Bilateral Forum was successfully held at the School of Biomedical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). The forum was co-hosted by the School of Biomedical Engineering of SJTU and the Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University. As the first bilateral gathering following the renewal of the inter-institutional cooperation agreement, the forum saw both sides conduct in-depth discussions and detailed exchanges on future scientific research collaboration and talent cultivation.
The forum was moderated by Zheng Guoyan, Assistant to the Dean of the School of Biomedical Engineering. Keynote speakers from both Chinese and German sides delivered in-depth exchanges on the cutting-edge technological advances in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computer-aided therapy respectively. During the visit, the delegation from Heidelberg University also held an information session on the bilateral talent training programs, which received extensive attention and warm welcome from all faculty and students of the school.
China and Germany share a long-standing history of cooperation. The two sides have carried out in-depth collaboration in multiple areas including scientific research seed funds, the APS Program of the Cultural and Education Department of the German Embassy in China, and talent development. Building on the existing cooperation, the two parties will further explore comprehensive collaboration in the fields of scientific research and talent cultivation going forward.
