Alumni Association of the School of Biomedical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Officially Established

On the afternoon of April 6, 2026, the inaugural meeting of the Alumni Association of the School of Biomedical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) was held at Wenxuan Medical Building. Hu Weiwei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of SJTU; Xu Xuemin, Deputy Director of the SJTU University Council and Honorary Chair of the Alumni Association; Cheng Minghe, Co-founder of Mindray Medical and the Inaugural President of the Alumni Association, along with alumni from all sectors, faculty and student representatives of the School, gathered at the event. The meeting was chaired by Kong Lingti, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the School of Biomedical Engineering.
The meeting kicked off with the playing of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Anthem.
On behalf of the university, Hu Weiwei extended congratulations on the establishment of the Alumni Association. She recognized the School’s achievements in nurturing a large number of leading talents in the medical and health field over the past four decades, and put forward expectations for the development of the Alumni Association.

Liao Hongen delivered a report on the School’s development status.

Zhu Chunling briefed the audience on the preparatory work for the Alumni Association.

Zhang Liqiang announced the list of members of the first Board of Directors of the Alumni Association. The on-site ceremony for the issuance of appointment letters to the representatives of the Board of Directors and the flag presentation of the Alumni Association was held.

Kong Lingti read the congratulatory letter from Academician Chen Yazhu on the establishment of the Alumni Association.
Cheng Minghe affectionately looked back on his academic journey and growth at his alma mater, extended sincere thanks to the alma mater and the School for their meticulous nurturing, and pledged to unite and lead the Board of Directors to build up the Alumni Association, pooling alumni strength to support the School’s development.
Zhou Yinghua, representative of the peer alumni associations, delivered a speech.

The meeting also honored the recipients of the 2025 Alumni Scholarship and Teaching Award.
Xu Xuemin delivered the concluding speech, calling on the School to pool the strength of alumni, deepen industry-university-research collaboration, and serve the Healthy China national strategy.

With the core mission of serving alumni, connecting disciplines and empowering society, the Alumni Association of the School of Biomedical Engineering has appointed Chen Yazhu and Zhuang Tiange as Honorary Presidents, Xu Xuemin as Honorary Chair, and Cheng Minghe as President.
