Biography

Prof. Chongzhao Wu is a tenured Associate Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He received B.S. degree from Fudan University, Shanghai, China in 2010 and Ph.D. degree from Lehigh University, Pennsylvania, US in 2016. He performed postdoctoral research at Columbia University, New York, US. His research interests include terahertz and mid-infrared photonics, biomedical imaging and sensing, metasurfaces and optoelectronic devices. He has published in journals such as Nature, Optica, Advanced Science, Laser & Photonics Reviews, ACS Photonics, Photonics Research, Nanophotonics, APL Photonics, Journal of Lightwave Technology, Optics & Laser Technology, Optics Express, Optics Letters and presented on CLEO, IEEE Photonics Conference, SPIE Photonics West, IRMMW-THz, IQCLSW. He serves as the Early Career Editorial Board of Photonics Insights, Journal of Infrared and Millimeter Waves. His research has been reported by Science Daily, Phys.org, Optics and Photonics News. He is the recipient of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Excellence in Mentoring Award and Outstanding Teaching Award, the first prize of Teaching Achievement Award, Baker Institute Innovation Prize, Packard Fellowship, SPIE Travel Award, Rossin Doctoral Fellow, Sherman Fairchild Fellowship for Solid State Studies and Forbes 30 Under 30 in China 2019. The undergraduate course he is teaching has been honored as one of the top first-class courses at both Shanghai and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is the PI of more than 15 research projects funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China, Natural Science Foundation of Shanghai et al. Student members from Prof. Chongzhao Wu’s group have been awarded the National Scholarship, Outstanding Graduates Awards in Shanghai and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
