Tsung-Yuan Tsai is a faculty member of the School of Biomedical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in Shanghai, China, since May 2016. He also currently serves as Principal Scientist in the Medical 3D Printing Center at Shanghai Ninth People‘s Hospital. He received his Ph.D. from the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan. From 2011 to 2016, he was a research scientist at the Bioengineering Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA.
His research interests span Imaging Biomechanics, Orthopaedic Engineering, Sports Science, Motion Analysis, and Computational Biomechanics. During his Ph.D. study, he successfully developed a novel tracking technique using 3D CT data and single-plane fluoroscopic images to register in-vivo 3D motion of the knee. His recent works mainly focus on clinical issues in Orthopaedics using the-state-of-art imaging techniques.
Dr. Tsai has published 80+ peer-reviewed journal articles and 160+ professional conference papers. He is co-author of 4 book chapters, including The Hip Kinematics in “Adult Hip”, and Applications Using MATLAB in “Introduction to Finite Element Analysis”. He is an Active Member of Orthopaedic Research Society of the US. He is an Associate Editor of BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders and invited reviewer of 20+ Science Citation Index journals.
