Dr. Dengrong Jiang is a Tenure-track Associate Professor in the School of Biomedical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University (JHU) in 2020. He then joined the Russell H. Morgan Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences at JHU as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and was promoted to Instructor in 2021. From 2022 to 2024, he held the position of Tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at JHU, and served as the principal investigator for an NIH R21 grant and an NIH R01 grant subaward. In 2024, he returned to China and joined the faculty of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His primary research focus is the development of innovative magnetic resonance imaging techniques for assessing brain physiology, as well as the clinical applications of these techniques in brain diseases such as hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy in newborn babies and Alzheimer's disease in the elderly. He has published 33 papers in SCI journals and has been honored with multiple international awards, including the Junior Fellow of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Young Investigator Award First Place from the International Society for Neurovascular Diseases.
2009-2013 Bachelor of Engineering in Engineering Physics, Tsinghua University
2013-2020 Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Johns Hopkins University
2020-2021 Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Department of Radiology, Johns Hopkins University
2021-2022 Instructor, Department of Radiology, Johns Hopkins University
2022-2024 Tenure-track Assistant Professor, Department of Radiology, Johns Hopkins University
2024-present Tenure-track Associate Professor, School of Biomedical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Development of novel magnetic resonance imaging techniques to assess the brain’s physiology (including cerebral oxidative metabolism, cerebral blood flow, the flow and exchange of cerebrospinal fluid, etc.), and the clinical applications of these techniques in brain diseases such as hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy in newborn babies and Alzheimer’s disease in the elderly.
2022 Junior Fellow, the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM)
2022 Young Investigator Award First Place, the International Society for Neurovascular Diseases
2021 ISMRM W. S. Moore Young Investigator Award Finalist
2019 Best Presentation First Place, Imaging Cerebral Physiology Network
