The Shanghai Chest Hospital is the earliest three-level of first class specialized hospital established in China, integrating medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research to diagnose and treat heart, lung, esophagus, trachea, and mediastinal diseases. The hospital is the first internationally certified chest pain center of China, in the first batch of Chinese chest pain centers, in the first batch of Chinese heart failure centers, in the first batch of Chinese atrial fibrillation centers, in the first batch of cancer pain demonstration wards in Shanghai, with Trial Fibrillation Diagnosis and Treatment Center of SJTU and Esophageal Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center of SJTU. In the future, the Clinical Joint Research Center will cooperate with the powerful departments of Thoracic Surgery, Respiratory Medicine, Cardiology, and Oncology, researching in many aspects such as the magnetic resonance image-guided vascular intervention robotics system technology, the fiber-optic bronchoscope robotics system for the peripheral lung nodules, multi-instrument collaborative delivery of cardiovascular interventional surgery robotics and robotic single-port thoracic surgery.
